The Seven Dwarf Frogs

On rare occasion I like to show off some of the work I've done in my classes to other people outside of the bubble I live, sleep, eat and breath in. Most of it I'm not completely satisfied with, I usually hate it because it aggravated me or I accidentally slept on it and find it in the morning ruined, and then of course I find myself hitting my head against the wall for being such a dope. Either that I'm too shy, or modest, to show off my smokin' skills or maybe I'm being smart and saving everyone from being exposed to my dry humor. For the most part I'm just not satisfied with it, but I can live with the flaws.
And then there' s an even rarer occasion when I like to share art that I totally had fun doing and had a great experience doing it and although it looks a lot like crap and I know I'll never go back and finish it or tweak it, I'm still proud of it. And it's because I've conquered something that is somewhat difficult that I like to share it.
Today is one of those days where I feel like sharing; and dancing and singing and picking dandelions! Or not, I just realized it's raining. Anyways This should all make you laugh, this was the homework I did for one of my classes, and yes it's very choppy and no I won't be changing it anytime soon, and yes those are frogs. Enjoy! So... um, so much for writing a new blog post once a week. I don't even remember how long it took for me to stop. I keep meaning to update, but then life happens and I don't get around to it. I probably have too many blogs that I try to keep up with in the first place. I update my teaching blog every day there is school. Is Civil Discourse Too Much To Ask For?

As I am pretty certain everyone reading this blog knows, I am an active participant on several different blogs, many of them related to religion, politics, education, and social issues. In a recent blog post at By Common Consent, a Mormon blog, about immigration, a nugget was posted by a (to the best of my knowledge) drive-by commenter, ranting and raving about "illegals" ruining our nation. Here is the verbatim post: Do illegals pay social security? Millions of dollars are sent back to Mexico to their families. And their are jobs besides farm jobs that that citizens haven’t done because wages have been depressed by importing them at a cheaper rate. A condition of higher unemployment means that any race, Irish etal takes opportunities from those who first deserve them. Who Are You?

A thought has been running through my mind this morning and it doesn't seem to be planning on leaving any time soon. I have things I need to get done (such as applying for more jobs for the coming school year), so I am hoping that this may help me at least share the thought well enough that I can worry about other things. The thought is really more of a question. Who am I? Who are you? How do I define myself? How do you define yourself? So often in our lives, we have opportunities to introduce ourselves to new people. I've mentioned before how I have this habit of introducing myself as Alex Valencic but, if I am writing my name, it is always Alex T. Valencic.
