Well, It Was Bound To Happen One Day...

Gretch has finally posted twice in a row. I think this may be a first. Granted, she has all of her comics scheduled to post, so I really should have just snuck something in first but... wait, what the heck... according to the browser spell-check, "snuck" is not a word... I am so confused right now... Okay, I just checked with Merriam-Webster, and they say that snuck is the past participle form of sneak, but is more commonly used in the US and Canada than in Great Britain and Australia. So this is probably a result of me using the English (UK) language setting. Anyway, where was I? Oh, right. Gretch finally double posted because I was lazy. I suppose I could point out that I've had a rather nasty cold the past few days, which I thought was a sinus cold, but since Gretch now has it, apparently it was just a cold. And now that I've bothered to do some research on the subject (read: I went to WebMD to see what they had to say on the subject), I have discovered there is no

Wedding Bells Are Gonna Chime

Well, actually, now that I think about it, wedding bells themselves will not be chiming, due to an unfortunate lack of bells in most Latter-day Saint buildings. But there will at least be symbolic wedding bells. Maybe I'll bring a small bell and ring it on the appropriate days. Quite a while ago, Gretch's sister Erin started dating this really cool guy named Sam. She tried to pretend they weren't dating at first, by introducing him to the family as her "friend" and having his sister come along on a lot of their activities. But Gretch is an incredibly intuitive woman and she figured it out. And, of course, told me, although we were both sworn to secrecy. Unfortunately, Sam's family didn't have the same oath of silence placed on them, so things came to a head when Sam's mum said something to Erin's parents during a dinner. A few months later, things were getting serious, and we figured that Sam would soon be joining the ranks of Gretch's father&#

Spring Cleaning

For several months now, Gretch and I have had a running list of things to do in regards to Simply Spotless. Near the top of the list has been reorganising our "office space" at Illini Plaza. I put that in quotes only because the office we are leasing is approximately 90 square feet and is used as a storage room for all of the company's equipment and chemicals. Despite the small size, it is a rather nice place to keep things, and is considerably better than the garage that was formerly used. For one, it is in a temperature-controlled environment, so there are no worries about chemicals freezing in the winter or over-heating in the summer. For another, it provides a convenient central point to meet, hold meetings, and not have to worry about waking neighbours in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the way the equipment and chemicals had been stored did not utilise the space very well. Not for a large closet of these dimensions (about 10 x 9 feet). So we have had plans t

Top Ten Lessons from Jurassic Park

I love the movie Jurassic Park . It was one of the few films I can remember going to the theatre to see with my entire family when I was growing up. I am pretty certain I fell asleep during the opening sequence, but that didn't stop me from loving it. When my sister Ariana was very young, I was given the task of baby-sitting her over the summer while my sister Amanda was hanging out with Tom and Tabitha in Utah and my brother Adam was causing trouble in Germany. All of my other brothers had moved out. During this summer, we cleaned the house every morning while listening to Les Miserables . Then we would watch the VH1 Top Ten Countdown. After that, we did all sorts of fun things. One day, Ariana was in a bad mood and just didn't want to do anything. I finally put in a movie. And, despite her young age, she watched it. As the film progressed, she didn't get scared or cry or anything. Except laugh. Especially when the T-Rex ate the lawyer. Yes, folks, I showed Jurassic Park

Yesterday Gretch and I signed away another year of our lives. On August 21, 2010, Gretch and I will be moving from our current (and first, as a married couple) abode and establishing a new residence across town at 2509-A Leeper Dr. Our new home will be just four miles away from where we currently live. It places us that much further away from my parents' house (not a significant amount when they already live about 90 miles away), but it will make us considerably closer to Gretch's parents (about a mile away instead of four). It is probably a little bit smaller than our current home, seeing as it is only one floor and there is no basement, but we will have about 1150 sq ft, give or take. We will have an attached garage, though, which means no more pesky neighbours parking in our spaces. Unfortunately, the move will cause us to change wards, but we'll still see our friends from Mahomet and, hopefully, we'll hear from them from time to time. But we felt it was important to
